Pies csn be made with any kinds of left overs. There is no right or wrong.
I have found this great recipe thanks to zbetter Homes and Gardens which is delish. You can add veggies but this time I didnt they are just plan pies.
When watching the show I found out 2 tips
1. Use a different pastry on both the top and bottom giving it a differemt texture. I didnt make the waterproof pastry. I used short crust pastry on the bottom and puff pastry on the top.
2. Also when putting on the lids to the pies, cover the inside with whisked egg as well as using this on top. The egg under neather helps bond the inside to the lid and on the out side it gives the pie a beautiful golden finish.
I have made them in little pies, tiny pies and in the dumpling press. This way there are different sizes to use for means depending on who is having them. They freeze very well. I use the same muffin tins when reheating them up so they fit in well.
I think next time I am going to try chicken pies.. What is your favorite pie?
